This is a plan to rebuild the site of a building along the arcade damaged by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. The franchise turns into an average cityscape with high convenience and needs. The client felt that the help and symbiosis born between people immediately after the earthquake was an essential revival of the community. Therefore, the client decided to proceed with the plan as a complementary place to back up civic and cultural activities with the participation of various people.
Tohru Yabashi planned a small building. Think about the potential of a small building. A small plan aimed at creating an incomplete state. It can have a lot of involvement in the city. Therefore, it can be said that the mutual assistance relationship that is the basis of this project overlaps with the shared awareness of modern lifestyles that improve the convenience of the city.
Smallness can be viewed as an important keyword as a shared base that can be positioned as an extension of urban space rather than as a single architecture. Indoors, the main function can be used as a community cafe. It can also be used for cooking workshops and eating and drinking events. Designed to plan indoor events such as galleries. Plaza is a place that can be used for various purposes such as talk events, theaters, satellite galleries, etc.
Slits generated from stepped structures not only ensure daylight use and visual transparency, but also offsite arcade crowds, square crowds, people working in indoor kitchens, indoors and outdoors Solidarity that people feel like they share the same space, time, and environment where people enjoying activities and meals at the same time create a sensation.
